SAM

SAM is a simple voice answering machine for PC Skype users.

When you are away from your PC and there is no one to answer your incoming calls, SAM will pick up the call, play a greeting message and the "all-time classic beep" so that the calling party will leave a voice recorded message.

General wisdom is you don't leave your computer working to handle your telephone needs. An early look at SAM - a Skype Answering Machine, makes traditional wisdom seem old fashioned.

Think about your current answering machine. When you come home, you hear it beeping or flashing away with new messages. You press the playback button - visually you can see how many messages were left but you can’t choose in which order to listen to them. You search madly for a pen that works and any scrap piece of paper - the next message is already playing. Before you know it, you have to listen to them all again carefully trying to write down numbers and names.

Now what if you had:

A solution that not only captured voice messages, it also enables one click return dialing.
Notifies each caller with a text message (can be customized) that they reached your answering machine so they can leave a note too.
Can select the playback in any order you wish, getting to messages faster that you think are urgent or interesting.
Has all the other usual features of a standard answering machine.

All messages are listed in sorted order by the 'time of call', the 'callers name' or the duration of the message saved.

You can choose to 'PLAY', 'CALL USER' or 'DELETE' a message as long as you are logged in on your Skype® account.

All your messages are saved as regular *.wav sound files. Go to the saved voice 'Message Folder' (use button) and move/save/email/listen to those files.

SAM is simple but powerful. You control how SAM will answer incoming calls for you.
You can allow or prevent it by checking the 'Enable answering of incoming Skype calls.
If SAM is allowed to answer incoming calls then tell him when, after 2sec or after 20sec. Should SAM answer calls only when you are 'Away', 'Not Available' or in the 'Do Not Disturb' modes. Or should SAM pick up calls even when you are 'Online' because you choose to screen your incoming calls.
You can personalizes your greeting option.
Select your own voice greeting message, and add a text message that will be sent when SAM answers the call.

SAM - created by Alex Rosenbaum is still in beta. We had no problems with the install. We know he is still refining it for sound card compatibility. SAM requires the latest version of Skype so download it first.
It's only available in PC format for now, sorry Mac fans.
